Paul D. Velasco is the principal of Velasco Law Group, APC, in Long Beach, California. Paul has been practicing for more than 18 years and focuses his practice exclusively on estate planning, probate and trust administration, as well as probate and trust litigation. He is certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization as a Certified Specialist in estate planning, trust and probate law, a distinction held by less than one percent of all attorneys in California.
He has lectured extensively for wealth management advisors, corporate trustees and other professionals on trust and estate planning matters. Paul and his firm have represented Farmers & Merchants Trust Company of Long Beach, Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., Union Bank, and other professional trustees as legal counsel on various trust, probate and litigation matters. Paul is also fluent in Spanish, one of a few bilingual estate planning attorneys in the entire State of California. He is a member of the Trusts and Estates Section of the State Bar of California and the Estate Planning and Trust Council of Long Beach. Paul is also very active in the community.
He is a Volunteer Attorney for the City of Santa Fe Springs Legal Services programs, which offers free legal services to low income residents, and he sits on the Board of Directors of CAPC, Inc., a non-profit organization in Whittier, California, whose mission is to empower adults with disabilities to realize their full potential and live independently. Peter’s practice emphasizes estate planning, administration of probates conservatorships, and trusts, as well as probate and trust litigation. Peter graduated with top honors from Whittier Law School and was admitted to practice law by the State Bar of California in 2002. He received his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in History from U.C.L.A. Peter is an active member of the U.C.L.A. Bruin Professionals and Provisors professional group. Peter practices in our Long Beach and Orange County offices.
Ramon Lamelas is a trusts and estates attorney with the Velasco Law Group. Prior to joining the Velasco Law Group, APC he worked in his family’s real estate firm for many years, which gave him broad experience in the field, including subdivision development, residential sales, residential leasing, and marketing. Mr. Lamelas is fluent in Spanish.
Mr. Lamelas graduated cum laude from the University of La Verne College of Law and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California in Political Science and Spanish.
Mr. Lamelas is a member of the Real Property Law and Trusts & Estates CLA Sections of the State Bar of California, the Real Property and Trusts & Estates Sections of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the Real Estate Law and Trusts & Estates Sections, as well as the Young Lawyers Division of the Orange County Bar Association.
Rosa M. Fregoso is a trusts and estates attorney with the Velasco Law Group, APC. She has been an attorney, licensed to practice in the State of California, since 1992. Prior to joining the Velasco Law Group, Ms. Fregoso was a sole practitioner in Estate Planning and Immigration law. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California San Diego, graduating cum laude. She received her Master of Arts degree in Latin American Studies from the University of California Berkeley and her law degree from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California Berkeley
Ms. Fregoso began her legal career as a Staff Attorney at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA) as an Immigration attorney. Her experience included conducting hearings before the United States Immigration Court, briefing and arguments before the Board of Immigration Appeals, state courts of appeal, and the United States 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Fregoso also worked as a Trial Attorney with the Los Angeles County Alternate Public Defender’s Office. She represented clients charged with criminal offenses through every phase of the criminal process, including preliminary hearings and jury trials.
Ms. Fregoso is fluent in Spanish and she is active in the community. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Variety Boys and Girls Club in Boyle Heights and Lideres Campesinas, Inc., a non-profit organization focused on assisting farm worker women. She is a member of the Latina Lawyers Bar Association, the Mexican American Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association Trust and Estates Section, The California State Bar Trusts and Estates Section, and ProVisors professional group.
