Amawele's is a Zulu (Ubuntu) word which means "The Twins." Growing up as identical twins in the beautiful city of Durban, South Africa, Pam and Wendy's peers had a difficult time putting them apart. This is the birth of their nickname as 'Amawele'. Always having the dreams with the passion for raising their name together helped them to bring those dreams into reality. Exploring the United States was just the beginning, which was fulfilled after Pam and Wendy had achieved success in the finance world. Their journey from being the dreamers to the successful entrepreneurs in San Francisco took time, but it was quite fulfilling and unexpected. After lots of traveling and working as child care providers, both Pam and Wendy decided to fulfill their passion for cooking and entertaining. This ultimately inspired them to start their own business, a classy South African food joint in the beautiful city of San Francisco. Their shared ambition inspired them to build the brand that is Amawele's South African Kitchen.
