About Us

• Tressa ‘Azarel’ Smallwood is a serial entrepreneur who started her multi-million dollar publishing house in 2001 with one book. She is now a movie producer, educator, publisher, and the creator of Be Your Own Boss, which is an entrepreneurial training program. Her ultimate goal is to educate and train an entire generation of entrepreneurs. Everyone should experience entrepreneurship, so why wait? You are never too young to start your own business!
  
  At Be Your Own Boss Summer Camp, we are a little bit different from other summer camps. Of all of the youth summer camps and sports camps for kids, Be Your Own Boss Summer Camp will, by far, be the most useful in the future. Here, several different subjects will be covered. We will discuss each step of starting your own business, including how to brainstorm ideas to start a business and how to transform these ideas from a vision into implementation. You can also enjoy visits from local entrepreneurs, outdoor activities, and game days, amongst others.
  We are a sports camp as well, so your child will be able to keep his or her sanity.
  
  Your payment of $225 includes the entrepreneurial camp for one week and the camp is held from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. You will be able to participate in various activities, such as business planning and ending with a presentation of your new business. Lunch is provided, but we ask that you e-mail us directly to inform us of any allergy concerns you may have.
  
  To register, you may fill out the registration form online and then make your payment on the website to complete your registration. You won’t need to bring any of your own materials. We provide all of the Be The Boss materials you’ll need, so just come as you are.

  If you would like to attend to see your child’s progress, we ask that you come on the last day when they are presenting their businesses to their classmates. This will allow them to feel better-prepared.
  
  Be Your Own Boss Summer Camp will be holding additional sessions and events in the future. Simply e-mail us with your requested dates and locations so that we can be better-aware of the needs of our students. The first week will be held from July 11th through July 15th. The second week will be held from July 18th through July 22nd. The camp is located at Bishop McNamara High School in Forestville, Maryland.
  
  Be Your Own Boss Summer Camp serves the cities of Clinton and Washington DC, with three other locations for your convenience. We can’t wait to help you get started in building up your own business!
