Bill grew up in the Austin, Texas, area and has managed to wear many hats throughout his career which ultimately led him to his current life as a musician and author. His father was a successful doctor in Austin who was good friends with Dr. David Johnson, father to fellow guitarist Eric Johnson. He attended University of Texas in Austin and graduated with a degree in Marketing. He ran a small music store called The String Shop.
