About Us

  • The Center for Individual and Family Services is a comprehensive outpatient mental health and drug/alcohol center staffed by licensed psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, counselors, and mental health technicians. The Center offers professional, confidential mental and behavioral health counseling, consultation, and education to assist individuals, couples, and families in overcoming problems in daily living. The goal of The Center is to provide affordable, quality behavioral health care for all Richland County residents. Financial assistance is available to qualifying individuals. Insurance, Medicare and Medicaid are also accepted. Individuals may request services themselves by calling The Center for an appointment, or other concerned individuals or agencies may refer them. Services are confidential and available to all residents of Richland County regardless of race, religion, age, sex, handicap or ability to pay.

    Outpatient Mental Health Services
    To assist individuals, couples, and families in coping with crisis, stress and emotional or mental illness.

    Children's Community Psychiatric Support Treatment
    Coordination of services for children and families with schools, courts and child protective agencies, providing intensive home-based care, advocacy, linkage, and referral and to support enhanced quality of life.

    Community Services
    Improvement of behavioral health through mental health consultation and education, to diminish the stigma of mental disabilities, and to foster a better understanding of one's self, family, children or marriage.

    Medical/Psychiatric
    Psychiatric outpatient consultation and psychiatric medication evaluation, treatment and management.

    Emergency Services
    Consisting of a voluntary crisis stabilization unit; pre-hospital screening services; mobile triage services and Helpline, a telephone service which provides crisis and referral services. These integrated components are designed to respond to psychiatric-emergencies in Richland County.

    Forensic Diagnostic
    Diagnostic evaluations for the Court of Common Pleas mandated by statute and special services in mental health for the criminal justice system, adult sexual offender and domestic violence treatment programs.

    Drug and Alcohol Services
    Provides individual and group counseling to focus on chemical abuse treatment. Individual and family counseling provides help and hope for the significant people in the chemical user's life. Group counseling offers both support and education to live chemically free.

    Residential Services
    The Center presently has residential treatment facilities to provide 24-hour supervised care for mentally disabled adults, which allows them to live in the community.

    Community Psychiatric Support Treatment
    Coordinates and monitors mental health, medical, rehabilitation, employment and other services needed to meet basic human needs for the severely mentally disabled to allow them to live in the community and improve their quality of life.

    Supported Employment
    A planning process that focuses on a person's strengths and skills; individualized job development and training services; and the Identification and provision of ongoing supports and extended services needed for people with severe disabilities to maintain employment.
