  • Choices & Patterns Inc., a company specializing in personal diabetes management information services, is offering two seven day Alaska cruises for people with diabetes, both types 1 and 2. The diabetes education program, "Cruising Healthy with Diabetes" is presented on board two Alaska cruise ships. The informational program is offered by the healthcare professionals at Choices & Patterns expert in clinical diabetes and research. The latest information in diabetes management and the best demonstrated method of self-management to achieve beneficial results, i.e., pattern recognition and management, will be presented. The date for the first Alaska Cruise on the Ruby Princess for children/families is July 14-22, 2018. A nationally and internationally known Pediatric Endocrinologist will lead the diabetes education program with a Diabetes Nurse Specialist and Registered Dietitian. The date for the second Alaska Cruise aboard Holland America is for adults with diabetes, September 22-29 in 2018. This program is led by a nationally and internationally known Adult Diabetologist, a Diabetes Nurse Specialist and Registered Dietitian. The diabetes education programs on board the Alaska Cruise ships are designed to inform of the latest knowledge in diabetes with the goal to see a path to personal best health, i.e., become or remain healthy with diabetes. Why on a cruise? Studies have demonstrated that learning to manage a chronic condition requiring daily management like diabetes is easiest when in nature while recreating, enjoying and relaxing in the beauty of the outdoors.
