• In the mid 1970s the Dierkes, a farming family in Columbia county New York, were approached by a neighbor who was seeking their assistance in transporting her physically disabled son to school. From that first year of folding up a wheelchair in a station wagon and caring for a neighbor's son, the Dierkes family has built a well respected and successful transportation business specializing in transporting wheelchair clients. We provide wheelchair patients transportation to and from a wide variety of destinations, including medical appointments, family gatherings, weddings, funerals, airports, and nursing home to home visits for a special family dinner or event. Our fleet of vans are all equipped with hydraulic wheelchair lifts and are designed for the safety and comfort of all our passengers. We offer a variety of wheelchair van services at competitive rates. All of our drivers pass annual New York State 19A transportation physicals and are New York State 19A CDL qualified, meaning that they have passed criminal background checks, receive annual and random drug and alcohol testing, and also have annual 19A examinations with both driving and written testing to obtain their CDL. We also have all of our driver files inspected annually by the State of New York. In 1976, Dierkes Transportation, Inc started as a small, family run business, offering car and van transportation to special needs programs for developmentally disabled children as per their individual needs which differed from what was available locally at that time. We now offer personal and reliable services to our clients and their families to and from doctor/hospital appointments, adult care home/centers, dialysis centers, airports, train stations, shopping trips, restaurants, hotels, and many other possible combinations of pick-up/drop-off locations.
