Fred Talley was born in Frankfurt, West Germany to American military parents. Most of his childhood was spent traveling around Europe and The United States. After graduating from high school in 1977 in Ansbach, West Germany, Fred studied engineering at Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Ga. He received his engineering degree in the spring of 1983. He married Gina Lawson, in the summer of 1983. Gina is a life-long Pickens county resident. Fred and Gina currently live in Talking Rock, Ga. with their 3 children, Seth a full time banker and part time writer living in Woodstock, GA, Erica who a full time student at Kennesaw State University and a part time banker, and Emily who is currently a senior at Pickens High School.
