A sleep disorder is a condition that abnormally affects the quality, duration, or behavior of a person's sleep.
Sleep deprivation can lower a person's quality of life & increase the risk for injuries. Up to 50% of individuals with sleep apnea have high blood pressure. They’re also at increased risk for:
    • arrhythmia, or irregular heart rhythm
    • cor pulmonale, or enlargement & weakening of the right side of the heart
    • heart attack
    • pulmonary hypertension, or high blood pressure in the lungs
    • stroke
A Sleep Center study can pinpoint the nature & cause of your sleep problem & provide an effective treatment plan.
At the Faith Regional Sleep Disorder Center patients begin with a sleep consultation to discuss his/her sleeping habits, lifestyle & health history.
If a sleep study is recommended, he/she will stay overnight in one of the specially designed rooms, much like a room found in one’s own home, & will have devices attached to record sleeping patterns, breathing oxygen levels, brain waves, heartbeat, breathing effort & other parameters to detect problems during sleep. After the data is analyzed, the patient is called in for follow-up care & treatment.
Faith Regional has been providing comprehensive sleep disorder services to the region since 1993. Sleep studies can usually be scheduled within 2 to 3 weeks & individuals don’t need a physician’s order to schedule a consultation.
