• Formatec was founded by Jose Barreto and his son Rafael in 1978. Rafael Barreto earned several degrees at several Universities starting with a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science at the Missouri University UMR. He earned another Master’s Degree in Nuclear Physics at the University of Kansas. Throughout his teaching career he was a passionate and well-liked Teacher and Professor at several Colleges, Universities and public schools. Professor Barreto saw the need for children to improve their academics and set himself on the quest of creating a motivational program that gives the student a desire to learn. Formatec possess the most innovative teaching methods that involve one on one teaching as well as the individualized use of computers with the supervision of Certified Teachers. We keep a small setting because we believe in individualized attention to our students. In the year 2002, Formatec opened its doors in Miami Florida with a goal to supply much needed help to the Miami-Dade County Students and surrounding areas. Since then, the records of success are unparalleled. Starting from students failing their grades, (and after a few hours of tutoring in Formatec) seeing an improvement of up to 2 grade levels. In 2016, Formatec opened its doors in Durham North Carolina to help the students in this area excel in the same way the students in Miami have excelled. The reception and concern for student education in both North Carolina and Florida has been excellent. We cannot wait to meet you and your student
