About Us

  • Welcome to Golden Poppy Preschool and Infant Center, a full service Early Childhood Educational Facility serving children from early infancy to age six. We are a privately owned, licensed and independent school. Our goal is to provide an enriching and nurturing environment with a focus on developmental activities. Golden Poppy Preschool and Infant Center was founded in 1982, by Gail Reed, an educator and mother whose dream and vision was to establish a high caliber early childhood educational facility in Southern Marin. Opening its doors with 10 children enrolled, the school quickly grew as its reputation for excellence spread. For over thirty years Golden Poppy has provided a positive, high quality experience for literally thousands of Marin County families. Our capable Executive Director, Jeanine Schock, has been leading the school for over twenty years. The original goal, to provide a rich, stimulating and nurturing environment for both infants and preschoolers, remains Golden Poppy's focus today. It is the philosophy of Golden Poppy Preschool that children who feel safe, comfortable, and respected will exhibit a natural curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. We believe that as a child develops new interests, reaches new levels of comprehension, and begins to acquire new skills, it is our job as educators to provide a supportive environment with the appropriate materials to facilitate the child's natural development.
