About Us

• The Institute of Facial Surgery was established in the early 1990’s and was the first accredited outpatient surgery center in the Bismarck area.
  
  In 2008, the Institute of Facial Surgery moved from it’s previous location on Sixth Street, near Medcenter One Hospital, to a state of the art 5000 square foot facility located in the Professional Building on the corner of Tyler Parkway and Century, in Bismarck.
  
  The facility is a fully accredited outpatient surgery center, credentialed by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
  
  Dr. Stanley grew up in the mountainous area of Trail, British Columbia, Canada. He spent his time focusing on hockey and baseball, when not in school. In 1990, after graduation, he followed his brother, a family practice physician, and his sister, a lawyer, to the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver. At U.B.C., he completed a four year Bachelor of Science degree (B.Sc.) with a major in Pharmacology and Theraupeutics. He continued at U.B.C. and completed his 4 year Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) program. In 1999, he moved to Michigan and spent one year as a General Practice Resident in Dentistry (Hospital Dentist) at the Detroit Medical Center. In 2000, he was accepted into Medical School at Wayne State University and completed his M.D. in 2003. He spent the next year doing his General Surgery Internship at Henry Ford Hospital. In 2006, he graduated from Henry Ford Hospital’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency program, a fully accredited residency by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a board eligible Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and specializes only in surgery involving the face. After training, he moved to Bismarck, North Dakota and joined the Institute of Facial Surgery.
