• Welcome to Land on the Lamps Eulogy Writing Every life should be celebrated, but it can be hard to find the right words. You know the ones I mean: the honest ones that cause readers or listeners to breathe in with satisfaction and think how, yes, that was just it. That was a true reflection of someone they love very much, or perhaps: that was a reflection that helped them understand someone in a way they hadn’t, before. Do you carry, in your heart, a person whom you would like to see written down? Maybe that person is a loved one, or maybe that person is your very own self; either way, I would like the opportunity to see that person through your eyes and treasure him or her along with you. I would like the opportunity to use my gift of words to capture the essence of your person. In Alta Gerrey’s “7.3,” she writes about spirits who love us and land on the lamps to give us comfort and courage. I hold this image close and took the name of my business from Gerrey’s poem; I see my work as discerning and writing what is essential about someone. Perhaps you have been asked to give a funeral speech. Perhaps, as part of your own planning, you want to provide your loved ones with a prepared eulogy.
