Copeland, MD is a fellowship-trained sports orthopedic surgeon who specializes in helping athletes of all ages, including “weekend warriors,” recuperate from injuries and build their optimal physical strength. Dr. Copeland began her training at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where she graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. While completing a five-year orthopedic residency at the University of Missouri, Dr. Copeland served the nationally ranked Mizzou Tigers football program as well as other school athletic departments. She completed an additional fellowship in sports medicine at Wake Forest University (WFU) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. During her fellowship year, Dr. Copeland worked at the WFU Hospital, served as team doctor for the university’s football program, and traveled as team doctor for their Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball team. Dr. Copeland is a member of numerous medical associations, including the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. She’s affiliated with the Houston Physician’s Hospital and other local hospitals.
