  • Dr. Mark McFerran is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who is skilled in a variety of surgeries, including anterior hip replacement. Dr. McFerran takes care of patients in our Loveland, CO, office. In Dr. McFerran’s practice, the surgeon helps patients who need a wide variety of orthopaedic surgeries. Dr. McFerran’s primary procedures include such operations as: Anterior hip replacement, as well as traditional posterior total hips, Knee replacement, ACL reconstruction, knee arthroscopy, and other knee procedures With anterior hip replacement surgery, the surgeon operates on the hip from the front instead of the side or rear of the joint. Dr. McFerran also performs the traditional posterior approach to hip replacement for those patients who prefer it or whose needs are better suited to it. His calm approach to solving patient’s orthopaedic issues has earned him the recognition of being the patient’s friend. A Colorado native, Dr. McFerran completed his fellowship (advanced) training in orthopaedic trauma surgery in Munich, Germany. A fellowship gives an orthopaedic surgeon an additional, sixth year of patient care that focuses on a specialty. He completed his orthopaedic residency training at Vanderbilt University, and earned his M.D. degree from the University of Colorado. Dr. McFerran takes care of patients from OCR’s service area of northern Colorado, Wyoming, and western Nebraska. He performs surgery primarily at hospitals and surgery centers in Loveland. Dr. McFerran holds board certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. McFerran, an avid outdoorsman and hockey enthusiast, lives with his family in Loveland. He can often be found at a hockey rink or game when he’s not practicing orthopaedics!
