About Us

  • I remember what it was like to grow up in Oxnard… A sense of community with good planning and partnerships, leadership that worked with the community, safe neighborhoods and thriving businesses large and small. My parents purchased their first home in Oxnard. They were able to provide for my sisters, brother and I. We lived in a vibrant city that stood for progress, vision, and the ability to work together for the future of our community. Who would have thought that a kid from Oxnard could grow up in Rosepark, graduate from Frank Jr. High and Hueneme High School, go to college at UC Santa Barbara, attend graduate school at UCLA, and then receive executive training at Harvard? As a son of Oxnard, it wasn’t long before I returned home, followed in my mother, Eva’s, footsteps and took a leadership position with the city. But as an employee, resident, and taxpayer, I began to meet and listen to friends and families as they grew increasingly concerned about the current state of the City, and the direction of leadership under our current Mayor. In the previous 18 years, we saw reductions in crime coupled with economic growth. But in the last four years since our Mayor took over, the safety of our children, stress about how the city is stifling business, and the degree of our neighborhoods falling into neglect is now the talk of the town. Rather than watch failed leadership continue to present an endless series of challenges and setbacks, I made the decision to run for Mayor of Oxnard. At its core, being your Mayor is about having a vision for our city that is both aspirational and grounded in reality. It is about one’s ability to turn intentions into reality. Our shared concerns about public safety, financial stability, economic opportunities, and the future of our children and families are the foundation of my campaign – to restore trust and leadership to the Office of the Mayor and to City Hall. As your Mayor, we will once again work together as a diverse and empowered community that understands and accepts the road ahead with enthusiasm, passion and a commitment to succeed and realize our unlimited potential. As your Mayor, we will achieve the promise of our city and become the Oxnard we all know we can become. We will put aside apologies, lofty promises, and vague plans. And instead, we will develop, promote and embrace a safer and stronger community that respects consistent, reliable and transparent leadership.
