Let this alpine campground (20 minutes from Walden) serve as your base camp to explore the gorgeous North Park area of Colorado. This perfectly located KOA offers breathtaking views of the Medicine Bow Mountains from an elevation of 8,800 feet. Although the shade has diminished (lodgepole pines have been removed to slow the march of the mountain pine beetle), this is still a great place to relax. Hummingbirds continue to drop by for a meal, and moose and deer are frequent visitors. When you're not relaxing, you can go hiking, mountain biking, ATVing and horseback riding. If fishing is your thing, you'll find plenty of trout in the nearby North Michigan Reservoir and streams. Stop by the campground store for fishing supplies and advice from the friendly staff. Kids can keep busy at the playground (check out the log fort!). Weekend State Forest State Park interpretive programs include nature talks and hikes (seasonal).
