• Welcome to Playland Family Fun Center & St. Lucifer's Haunted Asylum! PLAYLAND FUN CENTER: We are Michigan's oldest arcade and fun center located in Flint, MI since 1969. Here, you'll find our vast selection of old-school arcade games (as well as some new favorites) plus go-kart rides and a mini-golf course. LUCIFER'S HAUNTED ASYLUM: Long ago, St. Lucifer's Asylum for the Mentally Insane was boarded up, abandoned, and left for dead. This cutting edge psychiatric hospital specializing in electroshock therapy once held over 12,000 patients and a staff of 700. But things were far from normal. Patients frequently chewing their tongues off, body counts unusually high, many patients disappearing into the 5 miles of underground tunnels -- the stories of macabre events happening to innocent people were told everywhere. A young boy awoke to find the mark of St. Lucifer's on his arm, later discovering that he had a twin who died at St. Lucifer's. A retired St. Lucifer's nurse gouged out her own eyeballs while riding the elevator in a department store. St. Lucifer's was called evil, haunted. Finally, the state ordered it to close in 1974.
