Our Mission At Rainbow of Knowledge elementary school, it is our mission to guide each student on their path of development by providing a carefully prepared environment, which nurtures the mind, body, and essence of each individual. Rainbow of Knowledge recognizes and respects the uniqueness of each child. Our primary mission is to instill a love of learning in the hearts of all our students. We help them learn to follow their heart, think creatively, and to work both independently and cooperatively with others. Our History In 1976, Rainbow of Knowledge began as a small preschool in San Jose. The school was founded by our current principal, Lynne Lewin. Throughout our history, we have had several different locations, including facilities in the Campbell School District, Union School District, and Cambrian School District. In the early 80’s, we added a kindergarten program that was so successful that in the 90’s we started adding one grade per year until we completed our elementary program. At our highest capacity, we served almost 300 students. As we changed centuries, we had an aha moment and realized our ideals didn’t fit the traditional way of teaching, so in 2006, we made the conscious decision to become an alternative school. In 2010, we moved to our current location in Los Gatos. We love the homey atmosphere which lends to our community feel. We also love being able to help kids succeed who may have difficulties in a traditional setting.
