About Us

  • A German board certified neurosurgeon with fellowship training in endovascular neurosurgery; Dr. Ruth Thiex completed her medical school and PhD degree with distinction at Aachen University in Germany; where she then went on to residency training in Neurosurgery and graduated in 2004. In the same year; she joined faculty at the Department of Neurosurgery at Aachen University and was appointed extracurricular Professor of Neurosurgery in 2011. After a two-year fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital; Harvard Medical School in Boston; she stayed on staff until she relocated to Seattle. Dr. Thiex serves as a neurosurgeon and interventional neuroradiologist at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett since November 2011. She is specialized in the treatment of cerebrovascular and spinal vascular lesions; including cerebral aneurysms; arteriovenous malformations (AVMs); dural arteriovenous fistulae (dAVF); and brain/spine tumor embolizations. She is also skilled in the interventional techniques for treating acute stroke patients.Personal Statement:I bring the expertise I gained at three internationally renowned universities to Providence to serve the needs of the patients in this community locally and at its best. I add to the current neurosurgical spectrum techniques of treating lesions in the brain through the arterial/venous system via a minimal-invasive approach.
