About Us

  • There are a number of companies and individuals available to help churches with their security efforts. Why choose SecureWay? I’ll start by telling you what has led me to this point and by sharing some of my background and thoughts. On the 30th of June 2018, I retired from the Army National Guard as a Colonel. I joined on the 4th of January 1983 as a young 18-year-old needing help to pay for college. After serving as an enlisted Soldier for 5 years, I enrolled in Officer Candidate School and in June of 1988 was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Military Police Corps. Security of various types is mission one for the MP’s. Area security, perimeter security, route security, personnel security, critical site security; if it needs securing, the MP’s are the ones to call. I spent the majority of my 35-year career as an MP Officer; serving in positions from Platoon Leader to Battalion Commander and almost everything in between. From that experience alone, security became second nature to me. In 2013, I decided to put some of my experience and training to work and became an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, getting certified to teach Mississippi Enhanced Carry as well. I also began teaching the NRA Refuse to Be A Victim course; an excellent resource for training individuals how to help keep themselves from becoming victims of violent and non-violent crime. I’ve had the opportunity to teach hundreds if not thousands of students over the years. In 2015, the deacon body of my local church elected to form a Security Committee. I was nominated to serve as committee chair. We started from nothing more than an idea. Along with committee members from local PD, Department of Corrections, FBI and military, we carefully formed and implemented a plan; learning and improving all the while. Through all this and more, I know God has called me to this mission. He’s been preparing me for it my entire life. I know who the real enemy is. Knowing your enemy is key to defeating him. I understand the biblical mandate of protecting the flock. I understand the need to be open and receptive while observant and cautious. I understand there is far more to this than being ready for a bad guy with a gun or knife. We have to be prepared for minor accidents, major emergencies, natural disasters and would-be criminals. We have to protect everyone from the seniors to the infants. We have to be on the lookout for active shooters, pedophiles and domestic offenders. We can’t simply concern ourselves with the stranger off the street. We have to pay attention to the guy sitting 3 rows down going through a nasty divorce and custody battle. Most agree we don’t simply need security, rather we need ‘Safety and Security’. Also extremely important is the need for planning and documentation; something else the military has taught me well. I understand these things because it’s what God has called and prepared me to do. I also know that God is our ultimate protector and prayer our primary weapon. Even with that, God chooses to use His people to accomplish His purposes. I am here to be used of God and I pray you would consider allowing me to be used of Him to help you. PRAY PREPARE PROTECT!
