  Two-foot contour interval mapping is used for preliminary engineering design, landfills and quarries or drainage management. In rolling terrain conditions this contour interval provides adequate representation of the land features.
  
  For final design work, where more planimetric detail and vertical information is required, one-foot contour interval mapping would be the right choice.
