Dr. James E. Oxer, a native of Lake Placid, Florida, graduated from the University of Florida in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Army where he served eight years as a helicopter instructor pilot. He departed the Army in June 1995 as a Captain to enter dental school at the University of Florida. He graduated with honors in 1999 with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and returned to Lake Placid to practice. Dr. Oxer has completed a yearlong continuum in Implant Dentistry at the Center for Implant Dentistry at the University of Florida. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the West Coast Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry and is a past officer in the Highlands County Dental Association. Doctor William. N. Shriner, a native of Indiana, graduated from the University of Illinois in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Physics. Upon graduation he and his wife Joyce lived in Ecuador for two years working with the Peace Corps. In 1970 Dr. Shriner graduated with honors from the Indiana School of Dentistry. He and his wife and three children have lived in Lake Placid since 1971. He has been active in establishing mission dental clinics and providing dental treatment in remote areas of the Dominican Republic.
