UFO Farms (Urban Fresh Organics) is a family-owned farm located in Yukon, Oklahoma. We grow fresh fruits and veggies in our aquaponic greenhouse. Our system combines conventional aquaculture (raising aquatic animals such as snails, fish, crayfish or prawns in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment. Aquaponics mimics the natural symbiotic relationship between fish & plants. When we successfully recreate this perfect balance, our plants and fish flourish. This ecosystem creates wholesome, better-than-organic harvests. Even most approved organic pesticides would kill our fish. The fish act as the “canary in the coal mine.” Every aquaponics farmer has to create a natural, balanced ecosystem free of additives for both to thrive.
