Your neck, also called the cervical spine, starts at the base of the skull and contains several vertebrae that support the full weight of your head. The flexibility of this area makes the neck susceptible to pain and injury. Everyday activities that can affect the cervical spine are extended sitting, repetitive movements, accidents, falls, blows to the body or head, normal aging and normal wear and tear.
