About Us

  • Michael Blackwell, MD, is the orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist leading the team at the Center for Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine, which has two locations in Tomball and Shenandoah, Texas.  Dr. Blackwell, who has practiced medicine for over two decades, completed medical school at the University Of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1991. He then went on to complete his internship and residency at the same institution.  Today, Dr. Blackwell and his team at the Center for Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine treat an array of orthopaedic injuries, including ACL tears, fractures, sports-related injuries, foot and ankle issues, hand and wrist problems, and much more. The state-of-the-art facilities at the Center for Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine are outfitted with the most advanced equipment available today so that Dr. Blackwell can treat your injuries and help you get back to the activities you love. Dr. Blackwell uses Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology to help carry out many minimally invasive orhtopaedic procedures, including knee replacement and hip replacement surgeries. The Mako system allows Dr. Blackwell to perform advanced orthopaedic procedures with greater accuracy than traditional surgery would afford. This helps to reduce trauma and minimize your post-surgical recovery time.  If you have an orthopaedic, or sports-related injury that requires expert surgical care, call the Center for Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine location nearest you, or request a consultation online.
