Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology? I enjoy the opportunity to diagnose and treat patients in a clinic environment. When you combine that with an ability to perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, I can provide a full scope of GI care. Do you have a specialty of interest within GI? I really enjoy all aspects from colon cancer screening, IBS, GERD, to IBD and including advanced procedures such as ERCP. Where did you study? Undergraduate: Texas A&M University, Medical School: University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio, Residency: Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, GI Fellowship: University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. What certifications do you hold? Outside of basic endoscopy (EGD) and colonoscopy, I also am certified in in-office hemorrhoid banding and ERCP. What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time? As a family we enjoy traveling. I am also an avid golfer and enjoy watching college football, hunting and tennis.
