• Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology? I was attracted to Gastroenterology because of the diversity in this field. There are multiple organs involved, which allows me to deal with various disorders, diagnostic testing and treatments, all in the course of a day. I also enjoy both the personal aspect and the technical component of the field. It is very rewarding to get to know my patients, not just based on their symptoms, but also personally, and then working together to find the best solution to their problem. Performing procedures is not only enjoyable but allows me better insight into my patient’s problem and management. Do you have a specialty of interest within GI? I enjoy all aspects of gastroenterology. Where did you study? Undergraduate: Washington University and University of Missouri, Columbia Medical School: University of Health Sciences – Chicago Medical School Residency and Fellowship: University of Texas Medical Branch What certifications do you hold? Board Certified Gastroenterology What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time? I enjoy travel, outdoor activities (especially tennis and bike riding), and spending time with my children and the rest of my family and friends.
