• Established over 50 years ago, Gastroenterology and Liver Associates of Riverdale (GALAR) is one of the oldest and most established gastroenterology practices in the Bronx. As the premier gastroenterology practice in Riverdale, the surrounding Bronx neighborhoods and lower Westchester, our physicians offer the knowledge, experience and compassion valued by patients who are suffering from digestive problems and liver diseases. From the most common stomach ailments to the most serious gastrointestinal issues, our Board Certified specialists are highly skilled in evaluating and treating every type of disorder. We specialize in the screening, detection and treatment options for colon cancer. We are committed to providing our patients with excellent care in a comfortable and compassionate setting. Our staff is specially trained to coordinate patient care, and ensure that all medical needs are met, making our practice the right choice for those with digestive problems. We participate in most major insurance plans, and are affiliated with Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. In addition to our office locations, we perform outpatient endoscopic procedures at the recently built, state of the art, Advanced Endoscopy Center (AEC), a fully licensed and accredited (by AAAHC - Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care) endoscopic ambulatory surgery center (ASC). The center has been recognized as a National Center of Excellence by the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program, demonstrating the center's commitment to excellence, quality and safety in endoscopic procedures.
