About Us

  • Roderick Hunter Jr., DPM, AACFAS, is a foot & ankle specialist and founder of Hunter Foot & Ankle Associates, PLLC in Plano, Texas. He specializes in a variety of in-office services to support foot and ankle health as well as practices podiatric surgeries and wound care. Dr. Hunter has previously served on several committees for the American Podiatric Medical Association, and currently is an active committee member for the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and the Texas Podiatric Medical Association. He is also an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc and is a Prince Hall Mason. Dr. Hunter is a veteran, having served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. He trained as an airborne infantry medic and served at Ft. Bragg, NC from 1994-1999. Dr. Hunter is proud to give back to local veterans, active duty military personnel, and their family members. After the military, Dr. Hunter began his educational journey at Collin College earning an Associate’s Degree in Science. Attending the University of Texas at Dallas, Dr. Hunter first earned his bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in psychology. He then spent a year as a graduate assistant in the sickle cell research lab at the University of Texas at Dallas before moving on to the New York College of Podiatric Medicine after a meeting with Dr. Laurence Lowy, who influenced Dr. Hunter to pursue a career in podiatry. Following graduation from NYCPM, Dr. Hunter was accepted into the Kingwood Medical Center PM&S-36 residency program where he was thoroughly trained in foot & ankle pathology and surgery. Throughout his medical training, Dr. Hunter received several awards and scholarships based on his academic achievements and community service. Dr. Hunter spends time in the community when he’s not busy assisting patients, volunteering at multiple events each year. He also enjoys bass fishing, clay shooting, and spending quality time with his family.
