Dr. Michael A. Pfeffer has served as the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer of UCLA Health since 2014. Dr. Pfeffer is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine for the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Prior to serving as AVP and CIO, he was the Chief Medical Informatics Officer for UCLA Health. Dr. Pfeffer graduated from Brown University with a degree in chemical engineering and earned his medical degree from Weill Cornell University Medical College. He completed his residency and chief residency in internal medicine at UCLA. Dr. Pfeffer is board certified in internal medicine and clinical informatics. Dr. Pfeffer is committed to medical student and graduate medical education and serves as the Associate Program Director for the UCLA Clinical Informatics Fellowship Program. UCLA Health was one of the first to implement the ACGME-accredited Clinical Fellowship Program. Dr. Pfeffer lectures worldwide on health information technology and regularly lectures at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Dr. Pfeffer is a member of the national Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Physician Committee, serves as a HIMSS Stage 7 international site surveyor, and has published numerous articles on Health IT.
