About Us

  • Even in this time of uncertainty, Mayo Clinic is a place for hope and healing — and we're delivering the care you need. Mayo Clinic follows carefully designed, rigorously enforced safety precautions for anyone who needs face-to-face care. We're safely treating all patients, both in person and through virtual visits, in adherence with federal and state executive orders and guidance. Michelle J. Clarke, M.D., is a neurosurgeon at Mayo Clinic's Rochester, Minnesota campus, specializing in complex spine surgery and spinal oncology. Her clinical practice includes spine tumors, including primary and metastatic tumors, spinal cord tumors, spinal vascular lesions, and associated complex reconstruction; as well as degenerative spine disease, including spinal stenosis, degenerative scoliosis, and other degenerative conditions. Dr. Clarke works closely with her patients and promotes each patient's understanding of his or her disease and determining the best course of action, including directing him or her to appropriate nonsurgical management. In addition to her clinical activities, Dr. Clarke is an internationally recognized researcher and is deeply involved in education. She is also a member of the bioethics faculty at Mayo Clinic.
