About Us

  • The National Center for Pelvic Pain Research (NCPPR) is a center devoted to research and treatment of pelvic pain syndromes in men and women using the Wise-Anderson Protocol. Pelvic pain syndromes treated at NCPPR include prostatitis, pelvic floor dysfunction, levator ani syndrome, chronic pelvic pain syndrome, interstitial cystitis, coccygodynia, chronic proctalgia, among other diagnoses. The Wise-Anderson Protocol (popularly called the Stanford Protocol for many years), was developed in the Stanford University Department of Urology by David Wise, PhD and Rodney Anderson MD. Drs. Wise and Anderson have published a book about this protocol called A Headache in the Pelvis, now in its 6th edition. Results of this treatment has been published in articles in the Journal of Urology and have presented this work at major Urology meetings and at the National Institutes of Health, available in abstract form on this site’s research page. NCPPR offers 6 day intensive clinics for men and women with muscle related pelvic pain on a monthly basis.
