William Sanchez, M.D., is a gastroenterologist (transplant hepatologist) with the Liver Transplant Program within the Transplant Center at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr. Sanchez is the director of education for the Mayo Clinic Transplant Center and program director for the Transplantation Hepatology Fellowship program. His primary clinical interests include chronic liver disease and complications of cirrhosis, such as ascites, hepatic encephalopathy and variceal bleeding, primary liver cancers such as hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma, evaluating patients in need of liver transplantation as well as potential living liver donors, helping patients manage their disease while on the transplant wait list, and providing care in the post-transplant setting.
