Yoshihiro Komatsu, MD is a fellowship-trained general surgeon with expertise in advanced endoscopy including POEM, a therapeutic endoscopic procedure, and LINX a reflux management system for GERD, as well as minimally invasive surgical techniques. He specializes in esophageal cancer and esophageal surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, GERD surgery, hiatal hernia repair, and Barrett’s esophagus. He completed his general surgery residency at Juntendo University Shizuoka Hospital, in Shizuoka, Japan, where he also served as a clinical fellow. He continued his postdoctoral training as a research associate in the Division of Thoracic and Foregut Surgery Heart, Lung and Esophageal Surgery Institute at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. His research work continued as a study coordinator at the Esophageal and Thoracic Research Institute at the Allegheny Singer Research Institute, Allegheny Health Network. He then completed his minimally invasive surgery and advanced endoscopy fellowship training at the Esophageal and Lung Institute at Allegheny Health Network. He has published articles and book chapters of his research work and presented his findings to medical audiences at annual meetings and conferences.
